Average gross salary means the average remuneration that an employee may receive for work performed in a given industry. “Gross” means the amount prior to the deduction of compulsory state benefits and taxes (income tax, social insurance contributions borne by the employee). Following the said deduction, we get the net amount, i.e. remuneration the employee receives on payday (so-called “take-home pay”). The contributions deducted from the amount of gross remuneration vary depending on, among others, the type of contract concluded and the amount of remuneration received.
